  • No more free news

Update forces paid subscription. Most stories are crime related. Rather not read that anyways. - autor:DMAASA - title:No more free news

  • Subscription Required? Not that good

It appears this app requires a subscription now. I enjoy reading the news, but it’s not that good. I get trying to make money, but no one should pay for local news on a phone. - autor:MontanaIrish - title:Subscription Required? Not that good

I can’t read any article with background music playing (Spotify) without DMN turning the music off. - autor:BStew1987 - title:Turns off music

  • Rating the App, Not the Quality of Content

The app works well. I use it daily. No issues with the app except that some information isn’t easy to find (sports on TV for the day). Love the Business and Main sections. The Sports section suffers from beat writers who are ownership/General Management lackeys. They pander to our teams local execs. The Rangers: oil & has execs who put a pitiful product on the field, greedy with their money, never accountable for the decisions made. Clearly, the beat doesn’t know how O&G execs make their money. Other than Boone Pickens and a select few others, they don’t spend. They accumulate. No doubt the Rangers brass will sell once the new stadium is built, capitalizing on their investment while making fans suffer through absurd payrolls in a top 5 market. The Cowboys brass, another O&G family, buys super yachts and his/her helicopters but doesn’t put money back on the field. The basketball beat covering the Cowboys sides with the fiscal conservative policies of the most valuable franchise in sports, never taking them to task. I’m in oil & gas and love my industry, but I’m out now on O&G execs running the teams I love. We have a long local failed history of lousy ownership when these men are at the helm (Jones, Simpson, Davis, Chiles, Hicks, Corbett, Bright). The columnists, on the other hand, are much more objective. The interns who write the sports headlines are clueless, often crafting one that doesn’t really have anything to do with the articles, not to mention laden with grammatical errors. No, sports journalism isn’t what it used to be at the DMN, but the app can’t be held responsible. It admirably does what it’s supposed to do. - autor:FWSoccerDad - title:Rating the App, Not the Quality of Content

I’m pleased to find breaking news(such as the pilots’ evaluations of the Boeing 737) online—before I see it on the Rachel Maddow Show. - autor:Shskespeare dropout - title:Breaking news

  • Search function

It would be nice to add a search function in the app. If I have seen an article through another digital platform but have to read within the DMN app it would be nice to search for the headline vs having to scroll through all the articles. - autor:Somehow55 - title:Search function

  • So far so good

Honestly, the app works great, and it’s a good place to get the news when I’m on the road. I prefer the real paper, but the paper is probably the future - autor:Sale cat - title:So far so good

  • Does not work with a vpn, no comics, only a few daily stories.

    By 3
Main page displays but selecting a story results in white screen. Turning the vpn off solves it. Disappointing in that many would like to keep the vpn on all the time. This is not an e version of the paper, even though you have to pay a subscription, so know that. - autor:Cubfansince69 - title:Does not work with a vpn, no comics, only a few daily stories.

  • Obvious Problems

    By 2
You can email the link to a story, but unlike most newspaper apps, the title of the article is NOT automatically placed in the email Subject heading. OK, so you think you can just copy and paste it. But then the title generated in the email has hyphens-placed-between-every-cotton-picking-word-like-this. It seems to be operating off of an MS-DOS file naming convention from the 1980s. Did I mention that they still have not fixed the flagging “feature”? Why not remove it, since it never works? - autor:glocalb1 - title:Obvious Problems
