  • Not much detail / way too concise.

Basically just word root, no interesting details. Seems like they just took a dictionary and removed the definition part, leaving just the etymology. Wictionary.org is much much better. - autor:wkumari - title:Not much detail / way too concise.

  • Not the OED of Etymology.

I don’t know what this is but it is not the Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology. I accessed that wonderful tome once and the entries were far, far longer. I don’t what this abridged claptrap is but it’s completely useless. - autor:SalemWitch - title:Not the OED of Etymology.

Very disappointing. Multiple words (which are in Webster’s) are not even included in this dictionary and detailed etymology usually incomplete or inadequate. - autor:NigeWatt - title:Oxford Dictionary of Etymology

  • Where you want your roots to show

    By 5
Knowing the roots of a word helps with understanding nuances of meaning and spelling. No dictionary is better at this than the OED. - autor:Russell Sveda - title:Where you want your roots to show

  • So convenient for my work as a narrative therapist, interested in how words shape our experiences.
