  • Continuing issues since update

Since the latest “big” update which included an unfortunate and unnecessary revamp of the entire UX, I’ve been disappointed in my favorite app. A continuing issue exists regarding “losing progress” in my podcasts, which I suspect is due to a syncing issue. It’s very frustrating to deal with having your spot rolled back 30 mins to an hour for an episode, especially when it occurs multiple times a week. It’s nice there’s support for downloading episodes without subscribing, but how am I supposed to find those episodes? Google Maps intermittently causes issues when pausing the podcast, wherein it rolls back by 30 seconds. Very frustrating when you’re city driving! AirPlay support is extremely unreliable as well. Hopefully this team gets back to basics and focuses on what made their app great in the first place. - autor:Eponymous Rex - title:Continuing issues since update

  • I can live with it.

I had been using Overcast for a long time but was not satisfied by the queueing method. This app was a bit difficult to learn, but now I can queue podcasts the way I want. That’s really all I was looking for. - autor:ChuckNoTheOtherChuck - title:I can live with it.

  • The app is now horrible.

The new UI is a complete mess. It bizarrely removed useful features like being able to sort your unplayed podcasts to the top. And it adds convoluted categories like archiving played episodes, and potentially hiding them. Some setting can be set on individual podcasts, while others are global, and It is unclear how which takes precedence on how the program will behave. - autor:Firethorne X - title:The app is now horrible.

  • Shelving this app for now

    By 3
I started using Pocket Casts back on Android and loved it for the cross-platform compatibility and syncing between devices. Too much of the functionality and performance have suffered since version 7. Syncing between devices does not work for me. Played episodes reappear with time left. The playback position never syncs correctly. These started working again when I started using Pocket Casts on only one device instead of two. Background downloading is no longer reliable, and I don’t like opening the app after leaving the house to find that new episodes haven’t downloaded despite the new episode notification arriving hours before while my phone was plugged in and on Wi-Fi. These problems didn’t exist with version 6. I wish that after releasing version 7, the app had received quicker updates to fix bugs related to existing features. For now I’m going to try Overcast. - autor:Reavy - title:Shelving this app for now

  • Buggy

I actually like a lot of the changes to the UI, but my main gripe is finished podcasts have a way of coming back. They are supposed to be archived and the files deleted, but they quite often show up again as unfinished episodes. - autor:J Pechter - title:Buggy

  • Latest updates ruined a great app

    By 2
I hate writing negative reviews, especially of an app that I have loved for years. But the latest set of updates has made Pocket Casts almost unusable. Previously, it was one of my most reliable apps, literally never crashing, never freezing, never having playback issues. It was pristine. I listen to podcasts through my whole day at work, and now it crashes, freezes, and shuts down dozens of times a day. I have to deal with a frozen screen and lose access to the rest of my phone or restart the app repeatedly. Also, the 15-second fast forward and rewind frequently don’t work either, getting caught in some sort of a loop where it keeps restarting at the same place as it’s trying to go back 15 seconds but never successfully does, ultimately leading to a crash. Inertia more than anything else has kept me from switching to a new app, but my frustration grows daily, so unless these basic bugs are fixed, I’ll have to go elsewhere. Otherwise, the major overhaul recently completed was delightful, but I would happily return to the old version and its stability if possible. - autor:SheWhoKnows - title:Latest updates ruined a great app

  • Garbage! Do Not Update! Do Not Purchase!

    By 1
Continuing to Disrespect Paying Customers! Absolute failure of design, UI testing, and understating the user base. The arrogant a-hole developers are argumentative and unable to accept constructive criticism when contacted about app issues. Instead of providing paying customers with the ability to reinstall the beloved app purchased by thousands, they tell unhappy users to piss off. Previous app version was awesome. Version 7 is terrible. The interface is cluttered. Nothing is intuitive. Complete redesigns should be new apps. Restore 6.x.x code base. Release 7.0 garbage as separate app. Now using iCatcher. - autor:A Guy Who Runs - title:Garbage! Do Not Update! Do Not Purchase!
